Responsible Business - Let's take responsibility

Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of Rezidor's broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. Our hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and Rezidor's corporate international charity organisation, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world.

Here are some of the Responsible Business activities and achievements of this hotel:

To increase our responsible business awareness to our customers we at the Radisson Blu Letterkenny

• Battery collection point at reception - we encourage our customers to dispose of Batteries at the collection point in the hotel.
• Towel system- we ask that our customers only use the towels required in order to reduce water usage.
• Conservation of water- we have signs in all our bedrooms asking that our customers reduce there water usage.
• To reduce health and safety awareness

To increase our employee awareness of the Responsible business actions we implement the following

• Staff meetings every quarter to foster a responsible working environment
• Separation of waste by staff members dived into three sections plastic, paper & general.
• We also provide fire training and first aid training for our staff to increase Health & safety awareness.

To increase contact & Dialogue with the community we are involved in the following

• Every Year for the past 3 years the RB team at the Radisson Blu Letterkenny hold the Annual young Artist of the year award. This is a Competition for all the local school children in the area
• We Sponsor the Irish guide dogs for the blind
• We are involved with tidy towns association
• Our hotel is involved with environment action month liasing with the town litter warden to pick up litter around town.
• Charity mock wedding, in support of children's ward at Letterkenny general Hospital
• Fundraising in Aid of Donegal Hospice

We are constantly trying to increase energy efficiency, water conservation & decrease the amount of waste generated. We implement this by implementing the following points.

• Cardboard crusher to reduce volume of recycled paper waste
• Bottle recycling
• Water conservation in the bedrooms
• Battery recycling point
